Health Innovation Wessex are the region’s health innovation adoption experts. They transform lives through innovation by supporting health and social care teams to find, test and implement new solutions at scale to the NHS’ greatest challenges, driving economic growth.

We’ve been with them from the start, developing their brand and designing anything from annual reports and events spaces to social media and a digital resources hub. Our skills and knowledge have grown alongside marketing their impact and evolution since 2013 – as well as the healthcare marketing we provide for other clients in the Health Innovation Network and wider NHS.

Renaming from “Academic Health Science” to the “Health Innovation” Network in 2023 and wider changes within NHS England have signalled a new era for their organisation. The way they work is shifting – they are still the innovation arm of the NHS, and they still deliver on a local and national level but their partnerships and commercial offerings are expanding. Their marketing needs and responsibilities are changing to meet this growth and we are perfectly placed to guide them through this important transformation – winning the bid to design and build their new website.

We’ve been designing and maintaining their website for a decade; accommodating extensions, revisions and evolutions to provide value for money until the time was right to redesign for tomorrow’s NHS. The primary objective for the new site was simple; make it easy for everyone, make it fit for the future.

So what would the future hold? And what does “easy” mean for the different people who use the website? Our people-centred approach enables us to explore these big questions and design solutions to answer them. Throughout the project we’ve interviewed, tested and iterated with their users and content managers. They’ve helped us define the content structure, navigation, features and functionality – and the result is a website that not only looks brilliant but works brilliantly for the people who need it. This collaboration has really helped foster a feeling of ownership and excitement for the the new site within their organisation and partners.
